I used to believe
Peace would always be there
Strangers would never stop and stare
Little kids love to share
but then, I learned some more.

I used to believe
People would never be able to fly
Scrapers would never reach the sky
Parents would never have to lie
but then I learned some more.

I used to believe
Its fun to call a short guy an elf
Books were made to stay on the shelf
I would never make something out of myself
but then I learned some more.

I used to believe
Happiness can be bought
Demons are to be fought
Lessons are to be taught
but then I learned some more.

I used to believe
Success is a one way street
Familiar faces would stop and greet
Soulmates are destined to meet
Thank God I learned,
